Drama Academy LAMDA Exam Policies & Procedure

Complaints Policy

At Drama Academy, we are committed to delivering a positive and professional experience for all students involved in our LAMDA (London Academy of Music & Dramatic Art) exam programs. We value your feedback and understand that, at times, concerns may arise. Our Complaints Policy provides a clear framework to address these concerns and outlines the process for managing complaints in a fair, consistent, and timely manner.

1. Purpose and Scope

This policy is intended to support students, parents, and guardians who may have concerns or complaints regarding LAMDA exams conducted through Drama Academy. It applies to all aspects of the LAMDA exam process, including registration, preparation, exam environment, and post-exam communication.

2. How to Raise a Concern or Make a Complaint

If you have a concern or complaint, please follow these steps:

  • Informal Resolution
Initially, we encourage you to contact us informally via phone or email at [email protected] to discuss your concerns. Many issues can often be resolved quickly through a conversation with our administration team.
  • Formal Complaint Submission
If an informal approach does not resolve the issue, you may submit a formal complaint. Please email us at [email protected] with the following details:
    • Your Name and, if applicable, the Student’s Name
    • Date of the incident or issue
    • Description of the Complaint, including relevant facts, dates, and any supporting documents
    • Preferred Outcome to resolve the complaint

3. Complaint Review Process

Upon receipt of a formal complaint, we will:

  • Acknowledge your complaint within 3 working days.
  • Investigate the matter thoroughly, which may include gathering information from involved parties.
  • Respond within 10 working days with our findings and the proposed resolution.

In cases where further time is needed, we will keep you informed of the process and anticipated timeframe.

4. Resolution and Escalation

If you are not satisfied with the outcome of the initial investigation, you may request further review by contacting the Academy Director at the same email address, [email protected]. A senior member of our team will then reassess the complaint and respond within an additional 10 working days.

5. External Appeals

Should the issue remain unresolved after internal review, and if your complaint pertains directly to LAMDA exam administration or results, you may contact LAMDA directly via their own appeals and complaints procedure. We can provide guidance on this step if needed.

6. Confidentiality and Data Protection

All complaints will be handled with strict confidentiality, in line with our Data Protection Policy. Information will only be shared with those directly involved in resolving the complaint.

7. Feedback and Review

We value feedback as an opportunity to improve our services. This Complaints Policy will be reviewed annually to ensure it meets the needs of our students and their families.

Drama Academy Conflict of Interest Policy for LAMDA Exams

1. Purpose and Scope

The purpose of this Conflict of Interest Policy is to ensure that all individuals involved in the administration, preparation, teaching, and examination of LAMDA exams at  any of Drama Academy’s Examination Centres maintain impartiality and transparency. This policy applies to all staff members, instructors, examiners, students, and anyone else involved in the process of delivering LAMDA examinations.

2. Definition of Conflict of Interest

A conflict of interest arises when an individual’s personal, professional, or financial interests might influence—or appear to influence—their decisions or actions regarding the preparation, administration, or evaluation of LAMDA exams. Examples of conflicts include, but are not limited to:

  • Financial interests in a candidate’s success (e.g., bonuses or gifts from students or parents)
  • Close personal relationships with candidates (e.g., family members or close friends)
  • Business or other financial interests with other parties related to candidates
  • Teaching or coaching candidates outside of agreed Academy contracts

3. Identifying and Disclosing Conflicts of Interest

All individuals involved in the LAMDA exam process including parents and learners, are required to disclose any actual, potential, or perceived conflicts of interest. This disclosure should be made as soon as the conflict is identified by completing a Conflict of Interest Declaration Form, which should be submitted to Simon Law, who will then pass this on to LAMDA Exams.

Examples of situations requiring disclosure include:

  • Directly or indirectly tutoring a candidate they will assess
  • Having a family or business relationship with a candidate
  • Receiving gifts or incentives from candidates or their families that could compromise impartiality

4. Managing Conflicts of Interest

Upon disclosure of a conflict of interest, the Academy will assess the situation and determine appropriate action. Possible steps include:

  • Ensuring assessments are double-marked or reviewed by an independent party
  • Reassessment with an alternative examiner where possible on a different day or location

5. Periodic Review of Conflicts of Interest

All staff involved in the LAMDA exam process must complete an annual Conflict of Interest Declaration, even if they have no conflicts to report. This helps to ensure ongoing transparency and accountability.

6. Confidentiality

All disclosures and records related to conflicts of interest will be treated confidentially. Only authorised personnel will have access to such records.

7. Compliance and Questions

All individuals are expected to comply with this policy fully. Questions or concerns regarding the policy or potential conflicts should be directed to Simon Law, Conflict of Interest Officer.
